What Australian Schools Think of StoryPhones

We are always pleased to hear how childen are benefitting from using their StoryPhones systems. Durning the past year children across the world have also had the opportunity to gain from our innovative MP3 audio systems. We wanted to share a comment that has just arrived from one particular school in Australia.

“We have loved using this resource. The benefits over a traditional listening post is the lack of all the wires. The students are able to get on task quicker and pack up quicker since they don’t have to detangle wires etc. From a teachers point of view it is quite easy to put the files on and off the devices. I can see benefits using these over iPods due to the ease of transferring files. It is also a benefit to be able to put different content on the different StoryPhones. All in all they are a great product.”  Thank you to Hambledon State School, Queensland, Australia for this comment.

Snowy StoryPhones

StoryPhones, along with the rest of the country has struggled on through the snow this week. Well done to everyone who has managed to get into work or school.  We are based in County Durham and have seen a lot of the cold, white stuff this week.  However, these are the views from our office window, so there are compensations.  Ducks apparently don’t feel the cold which is probably just as well.  Some snowy StoryPhones activities will be posted soon.

Northern Grid ICT in Education Awards 2010

StoryPhones sponsors the Teacher Award

On Thursday 10th June we were privileged to attend the Northern Gird ICT in Education Awards at the Marriot Hotel in Gosforth. StoryPhones was attending as the sponsors of the Teacher Award.

The huge room was full of children, teachers and parents from 30 schools around the region all there because of the wonderful ways they are using ICT as in a huge variety of ways to develop their learning. Down one side of the hall were displays of the children and young people’s work and ideas. I saw displays which included animated stories, wonderful digital pictures, and resources to highlight e-safety. All of the activities the children had been participating in were creative, detailed and highly developed showing how well children are using ICT in schools, but also highlighting the dedication of the teachers and adults who were supporting them.

This is why StoryPhones was delighted to sponsor the Teacher’s award, and Simon Johnson was there to present this to Mark Darling who teaches at St John CE Primary School. He was also presented with one of StoryPhones loud speaking MP3 players to take back with him.

The whole event was great fun, thanks also to the Northern Grid For Learning who had gone to great lengths to create a festive and exciting awards ceremony for the children.
