It was with great sadness that I heard this week of the death of Ros Bayley. Ros was an inspiring Early Years specialist and the most wonderful story teller. Her training courses and workshops were brilliant and packed with practical ideas. I was lucky enough to attend her Steady Beat and Story Telling training sessions, and used Ros’s Beat Baby resources throughout my time as a teacher. So many of my young children benefitted from this. I often turned to her book ‘Foundations of Literacy’, which she co wrote with Sue Palmer, when looking for guidance with my teaching.
When I left full time teaching to focus on StoryPhones I actually had the priviledge of meeting Ros. She was so supportive of our activities and she always came to say hello if we were exhibiting at an event. You could always tell when Ros was leading a session because of the laughter - she was a fabulous storyteller whether it was for children or adults. It is so sad that there will be no more stories.
Ros has always been a great influence on my teaching and I am proud to be able to say that I also knew her a little. Our sympathy goes out to her family and close friends, she will be greatly missed by them and by so many of us in the teaching profession.
